End of Summer Fest!

The Crystal Beach End of Summer Fest is the renewal of an old tradition started in the 1960s.  The "beach" in those days was filled with college students & people of that age who had rented cottages for the summer.  The Labor Day weekend signalled the end of summer to all of these folks.  It was decided that something must be done to celebrate the past summer and all that came with it.  What ensued was an End of Summer Parade and then parties throughout the "beach" to say good bye to friends along with "Ole Man Summer".

This year will be the fifth year of our renewal of this tradition.

We invite all to come and join us for a fun day in Crystal Beach.

You can never have enough Flinstones at a parade!

Mr. Fred Truckenbrodt

Grand Marshal of the 2009 End of Summer Parade

Fred is 90 years young with most of those years spent in Crystal Beach.

Fred spent many of his younger years working in the Crystal Beach amusement park where he did everything from tying up the Canadiana when it would pull up to the pier, selling tickets to the dance hall, shining the dance hall floor so it looked like the reflection of the moon on the lake, served as a lifeguard on the beach, painted several of the rides and on and on we could go.  No one posseesses a greater love for Crystal Beach than Fred.

For those reasons along with his being a fine gentleman that we made him our Grand Marshal for the year 2009.
