Sunday, July 28 @ Waterfront Park, the Friends of Crystal Beach proudly presented:
The Toronto All Star Big Band provided another memorable Sunday Concert at Waterfront Park sponsored by the Friends of Crystal Beach on July 28. Weather reports predicted rain, but the precipitation held off in order for the large crowd to enjoy the great sounds of the big bands and songs of the 1930s and 1940s. Newer arrangements of popular songs of the era were performed by the young musicians and singers while the perennial favourites brought cheers from the crowd.
Emcees Jerry Pequeen and Paul Lewis provided breezy commentary and offered prized postcards of the fabled Crystal Beach Amusement Park donated by “Mr. Crystal Beach” himself, Paul Kassay. One prize was offered to the oldest audience member who turned out to be a 103 year-old woman! The youngest was nine months old. The furthest distance traveled to attend the concert was from Markham, ON. Adults and kids danced to the swinging sounds of the band and everyone left on a high note.
